The 22nd of January is the Day of Conciliarism of Ukraine

The 22nd of January 1919 was the day of a great national holiday – the Day of Conciliarism of Ukraine. That day the unity of the Ukrainian National Republic and Western Ukrainian National Republic was proclaimed on the square before the Kyiv Sophia.
The Day of Conciliarism is celebrated in Ukraine according to the President decree dating the 25th of January 1999. This state holiday symbolizes the unity of the Ukrainian lands.
This decree, devoted to 89th anniversary of the unity act proclamation of the Ukrainian National Republic and Western Ukrainian National Republic and aiming to properly celebrate the Day of Conciliarism of Ukraine in 2008, charged the Ministers’ Cabinet of Ukraine to work out and confirm the plan of celebration actions of the Day of Conciliarism of Ukraine in 2008 in two weeks. Indicated actions plan the grand meeting on the 22nd of January 2008 in Kyiv, in region and district centers, and other populated areas with participation of executive authority organs’ representatives, local self-government organs, international, social and religious organizations, political parties, science and culture figures, representatives of the Ukrainian Diaspora, and diplomatic corpus of foreign states.

The plan of actions, devoted to the Day of Conciliarism of Ukraine in the Donetsk region, is also made. Thus, on the 22nd of January laying of flowers to Taras Shevchenko memorial is planned in Donetsk. Flowers will be also laid to monuments of prominent Ukrainian figures in the populated region areas; grand meetings will be with participation of executive authority organs’ representatives, local self-government organs, political parties, and social organizations.
Mayors, chairmen of district state administrations, the RSA Department of religion addressed the religious organizations of different faiths with the suggestion to pray for Ukraine on the occasion of the Day of Conciliarism.

During the weak there will work the exhibitions of archive documents and materials, informational hours, devoted to the Day of Conciliarism of Ukraine, will be held in the museums and libraries of the Donetsk region. Also the excursions to the local museums of ethnography history, historical places, connected with historical events of the Ukrainian state formation will be organized.
Lessons, lectures, thematic evenings, competitions of the creative works, devoted to the Day of Conciliarism of Ukraine will be held in the region higher, vocational and general educational establishments.

Holiday actions, amateur concerts of art, master performances of art, youth evenings, and theatric performances will be held in the region culture establishments.

 On the occasion of 89th anniversary of the Unity Act of UNR and WUNR there will be thematic evenings directed to patriotic youth education in the educational institutions and army units.
There will be the only one informational day on the topic “The Day of Conciliarism of Ukraine: lessons of history and current realia”.
