Donetsk Alpinists conquered Elbrus Mountain

On the 22nd of February, the Donetsk alpinists team that is going to conquer Everest Mountain, made ascent of West Elbrus (5633 meters). The action, in which Oleksiy Lykov, Oleh Paliy and the leader of the group Serhiy Kovaljov participated, was of a acclimatization-training character. Now, expedition returns back to Donetsk. Before the ascent participants of the action visited Bazhanov Mine (Makiyivka city), Skochyns’kyj mine (Donetsk city) and Gayevyj mine (Gorlivka city).

We remind you that in Spring 2008 Donetsk alpinists are going to conquer Everest Mountain (8848 meters). To show the respect to miners’ work alpinists intend to bring up the Donetsk coal together with the flag of Ukraine, oblast and miners’ towns to the top, as a symbol of industrial Donbas.
